What We Believe about . . .

The Bible:
We believe that all Scripture is verbally inspired by God and is without error in the original writings; and that it is the absolute and final authority in faith and life.
(II Tim. 3:16-17; II Tim. 2:15; II Pet. 1:21)

God:
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
(Deut. 6:4; I Tim. 2:5; II Cor. 13:14)

Jesus:
We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth; His perfect humanity; His vicarious death through the shedding of His blood for remission of sins; His bodily resurrection and ascension; His present high priestly ministry; and in the imminence of His literal, personal, pre-tribulation and pre-millennial appearing for the church, the Body of Christ.
(John 1:1, 2, 14; Luke 1:35; Rom. 3:24-25; Eph. 1:17; Heb. 7:25-26; Titus 2:13; I Thess. 4:13–18)

Man:
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that man sinned and thereby incurred both physical death and spiritual death which is separation from God; that he is born with a sinful nature; and that when he reaches an age of moral responsibility he becomes accountable for sins in thought, word, and deed. (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 3:23; 5:12; Eph. 2:1–3, 12)

Salvation:

We believe that salvation of sinners is entirely of grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, by virtue of His redemptive work on the cross. (Eph. 2: 8, 9; John 6:37–40; Rom. 3:24-28; 5:1, 9)

The Church:

We believe that the Church is a company of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ, and that its mission is to witness concerning its head, Jesus Christ, preaching the gospel of salvation among all nations. (II Cor. 5:14–21; Eph. 3:1–12; 4:4–6; 1Cor. 12:12, 13)

Eternal Security:
We believe in the eternal security of the saved and the eternal condemnation of the unsaved. (I Thessalonians 4:14; John 10:28, 29; Rev. 20:11–15; Romans 8:38, 39; Ephesians 1:13, 14)

Spiritual Gifts:
We believe that God is Sovereign in the bestowment of spiritual gifts, and that He gives gifts to believers to be used for the edification of the church.  Although the discovery and implementation of spiritual gifts is essential to the Christian life, we believe that the exercise of these gifts should be in agreement with Scripture and for the glory of God.  (I Corinthians 12:11, I Corinthians 12:4-7, I Corinthians 12:1, Romans 12:6-8, I Corinthians 14:40)

The Lord’s Supper:
We believe that the Lord’s Supper is observed by the believer at Christ’s request until his return as a memorial of His sacrifice and as a time of personal examination. (I Corinthians 11:23-30)

Baptism:
We believe that water baptism is practiced by the believer as a visual symbol of their union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.  It signifies that a former way of life has been put to death and proclaims a commitment to walk in newness of life.  (Romans 6:3-11)
